Trophy Guide Overview

Welcome to my trophy guide for Resident Evil 3 (Remake). Getting the platinum in this game is equal parts the same and different to getting the one for Resident Evil 2. Expect many play-throughs, which will be noted in the section below, expect different difficulties, collectibles, and the inevitable S-Rank trophy. The biggest difference between the two games is that Resident Evil 3 just has one story-line. There are two playable characters (Jill and Carlos), but you won't be playing any different scenarios or anything. For that reason, be prepared to play the exact same game a minimum of four times.

In the breakdown above, I mentioned that there are 17 missable trophies and while this is technically true, you would have to actively try to miss some of them, most will unlock naturally as you go. Any trophy that isn't story-related or tied to a difficulty can be missed, but you will be doing multiple play-throughs of the game, so you will have plenty of opportunities to get anything you may have missed previously. For example, collectibles can be obtained over different play-throughs. You can track your progress in the records part of the pause menu, but it won't tell which ones you have missed, it will be up to you to work that out. The file collectibles will respawn on every fresh play-through, while the Charlie bobbleheads, once destroyed, will disappear forever.

You can expect to be doing a minimum of three play-throughs of this game. The main reason for this is that you need to do and S-rank run on the hardest difficulty, Inferno, but difficulties unlock after completing the previous highest difficulty that was available to you. Now while I do say that it can be done in three, I would recommend five play-throughs.

  1. Assisted Difficulty while finding all of the collectibles and weapons etc. My collectible video can be found HERE

  2. (Optional) Assisted difficulty again without using any of the item boxes that are found in safe rooms (Minimalist trophy). Now you can do the item box trophy during your first play-through if you wish, but a good reason to do this extra play-through is that you'll also get more kills for your records, which will in-turn reward you with more points that you can buy 'cheats' with in the shop, more on that below. If you do move the 'Minimalist' trophy to your first play-through, you could use this extra one to get the 'I Might Need These Later!' trophy and make Hardcore a bit easier.

  3. Hardcore difficulty to unlock Nightmare, while only using one health item for the 'I Might Need These Later!' trophy.

  4. Nightmare difficulty to unlock Inferno.

  5. S-Rank Inferno difficulty in under two hours.

In the section below, 'The Order Which I Unlocked the Trophies', is a breakdown of which trophies you can expect to earn during each play-through.

The 'Cheats' or rewards are earned a little differently in Resident Evil 3. Instead of earning the infinite ammo weapons by completing certain difficulties with a certain rank, like in previous games, this time you'll earn points by completing records that can be used in the shop to purchase the 'cheats'. The shop becomes available in the 'Bonuses' menu once you have completed the game for the first time. Below is a list of all of the records you can complete, along with the points rewarded for each and a list of all of the items available for purchase in the shop.

You may notice that a lot of these records are the same as the trophies from the game, so you will gain a lot of points naturally while going for the platinum.

The numbers for each record save right away, so this means they will be constantly totalling up while you play through the game multiple times. This also means that you can farm kills for the weapon related ones. While you are going through your first play-through make 3 specific saves that will allow you to farm later on.

  1. In downtown as you are playing as Jill for the first time. Once you get the lock pick from the corpse, don't go through the gate immediately, make a save in the control room. You can use the spiders in the caged power station area to farm kills for the shotgun.

  2. The most important save to make is the one just before giving Jill the vaccine in the hospital while playing as Carlos. Straight after that the hospital will become overrun with zombies and you'll have to defend it. This is great for the handgun, assault rifle and just general kills.

  3. In the Nest 2 facility near the end of the game, you'll acquire a USB key and open a door with it. In that room are several enemies. Make a save in the nearby safe room before entering. In here you'll be able to farm granade launcher and MAG kills.

Now farming is not essential, I bought all of the highlighted items below with the points I gain from just playing the game multiple times. Farming is mainly for if you want the rocket launcher. It makes the game an absolute cake-walk.

Shop Items

  • [Costume] Jill - S.T.A.R.S. Gear - Jill's S.T.A.R.S. gear, as she wore during the Mansion Incident - 2000 points

  • [Item] Recovery Coin - Gradually regenerate health when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item] Recovery Coin - Gradually regenerate health when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item] Iron Defense Coin - Greatly increases your defense when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item] Iron Defense Coin - Greatly increases your defense when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item} Assault Coin - Greatly increases your attack power when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item} Assault Coin - Greatly increases your attack power when held. Carry two to increase the effect - 4000 points

  • [Item] Crafting Companion - While held, increases the amount of ammo gained when crafting - 4000 points

  • [Item] S.T.A.R.S. Field Combat Manual - While held, physical feats such as Perfect Dodge become easier to perform - 6400 points

  • [Item] Lock Pick - Start the game with the lockpick - 2800 points

  • [Item] Bolt Cutters - Start the game with the bolt cutters - 2800 points

  • [Item] Hip Pouch - Start the game with an extra hip pouch, not available in 'Assisted' difficulty - 4800 points

  • [Item] Hip Pouch - Start the game with an extra hip pouch, not available in 'Assisted' difficulty - 4800 points

  • [Weapon] Hot Dogger - A knife that causes enemies to burst into flames - 7200 points

  • [Weapon] Samurai Edge - 15-shot 9mm handgun, high accuracy and firepower (not infinite ammo) - 5600 points

  • [Weapon] RAI-DEN - Energy weapon with great stopping power, but only when targeting weak points - 12000 points

  • [Weapon] Infinite MUP Handgun - 16 shot 9mm handgun. High accuracy - 8000 points

  • [Weapon] Infinite CQBR Assault Rifle - Very quick assault rifle, high mobility - 28400 points

  • [Weapon] Infinite Rocket Launcher - The piercing power of the rocket does more damage than the explosion - 62400 points

The highlighted items are the ones I purchased to finish the game with, I managed to purchase everything I needed without farming any kills. I would advise starting to purchase items after your first play-through to make each subsequent play-through a little bit easier. I would prioritise the assault rifle, one of each coin and the combat manual, then fill in the gaps as you get more points. Obviously if you want the rocket launcher then, prioritise that and forget about the assault rifle, but you will need to farm kills to get enough points. You will still need the coins.

Shop items are in item boxes waiting for you when you start the game, so you can't use them on your 'Minimalist' trophy run. Also, you can save and quit out of the game you're playing, purchase an item, jump back into the game and the item you have just purchased will be waiting for you in the next item box.

For more information on how to beat the game on 'Inferno', please see the 'Jill Valentine' trophy below.

Nemesis Down.png

Nemesis Down

Cause Nemesis to relinquish an item.

SIlver Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

MISSABLE

The first time Nemesis chases you down during actual gameplay is when you leave the spider-infested substation in Downtown, he will burst through a brick wall. At this point you can shoot him to slow him down, damage him enough and he will drop to one knee for a long time. You'll know when this happens, because he will drop a large supply crate that you can pick up. At that point you'll get the trophy. He will drop to he knee a couple of times before this happens, but he will also get up pretty quickly.

You will get a few chances to get this trophy during the downtown part of the game.

Nemesis Down?.png

Nemesis Down?

Defeat Nemesis on the rooftop.

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

You will get this trophy after you defeat Nemesis during the first boss fight, the one with the flamethrower.

Power Stones.png

Power Stones

Place all jewels in the clock tower monument.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

The clock tower monument is in the first safe room of the game. It's in the corner of the room at the top of the station stairs. It's pretty hard to miss.

Screen Shot 2020-04-08 at 15.30.56.png

The jewels you need to place in the monument can be found around the downtown area. There are only 3 of them and they are found inside 'Fancy' boxes.

  1. The first box can be found in the safe room in the donut store in the centre of town.

  2. The second box is in the toy shop. It's the building with the big head on it. You will need the lock pick to gain entry to the shop. You will pick up the lock pick as part of the story, once you do, come back to the toy shop and grab the 'fancy' box inside it.

  3. The third box is in the little convenience store across the road from the toy shop. To gain entry to this place you'll need the bolt cutters. If you have the lock pick, you'll have the bolt cutters. The 'fancy' box is directly ahead of you when you open the door.

Once you have all the boxes, examine them and you'll get the jewel that is inside each one, red, green, and blue. Now head back to the clock tower monument and place the into the machine, one at a time. Each time you use a jewel, doesn't matter which order, you'll get a 'prize'. The first time it will be a grenade, the second time it will be the Tactical Stock upgrade for the shotgun and the third time it will be a hip pouch and this trophy.

For their exact locations, along with all other collectibles, please see my full collectibles guide HERE.

The Carlos Express.png

The Carlos Express

Leave R.P.D.

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

You will get this trophy after you finish the police station section where you are playing as Carlos. Once you leave the S.T.A.R.S. office, you'll get this trophy.

An Unfortunate End.png

An Unfortunate End

Defeat zombie Brad.

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

MISSABLE

Zombie Brad is the first enemy you'll encounter when first get to play as Carlos outside the police station. All you have to do is kill Brad for the trophy. He's essentially a normal zombie with a little extra HP. When you do kill him he will drop a keycard that will unlock three lockboxes inside the police station, so make sure to grab it.

If for whatever reason you don't kill Brad outside the police station, he will appear again as you try to leave the evidence room with the battery. This only seems to happen on 'Nightmare' and 'Inferno' difficulties though.

Jill Valentine.png

Jill Valentine

Complete the game with an S rank on "Inferno."

Gold Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

MISSABLE

This trophy is going to most likely be one of the last ones you unlock. First of all, to unlock 'Inferno' difficulty, you will have had to complete the game on 'Hardcore', then 'Nightmare'. Only then can you give 'Inferno' a shot. To get an S-Rank on any difficulty, you have to complete the game in under 2 hours 30 minutes, while only saving five times or fewer.

'Inferno' difficulty has the most aggressive enemies in the game, their placement is the same as 'Nightmare' difficulty. There are fewer typewriters and item boxes inside safe rooms and there are no checkpoints/autosaves. So if you die, it's back to the last save you made at a typewriter. If you do die, make sure to quit game, then load your save from the title menu. If you just select continue, the timer will just continue rather than revert back to what it was when you saved, so be aware of that.

Now this trophy is a easy or difficult as you want to make it and that's down to the 'cheats' that you can purchase from the shop. The infinite ammo rocket launcher will make this trophy much easier, but you will have to farm kills as I outlined in the overview at the start of this guide.

This will most likely be the 4th or 5th time you're playing the game, so you should be very comfortable with it by now. So the rocket launcher is not 100% essential. Here's what I used to get this trophy:

  • Item] Recovery Coin - Gradually regenerate health when held.

  • [Item] S.T.A.R.S. Field Combat Manual - While held, physical feats such as Perfect Dodge become easier to perform - 6400 points

  • [Item] Hip Pouch - Start the game with an extra hip pouch, not available in 'Assisted' difficulty - 4800 points

  • [Item] Hip Pouch - Start the game with an extra hip pouch, not available in 'Assisted' difficulty - 4800 points

  • [Weapon] Infinite CQBR Assault Rifle - Very quick assault rifle, high mobility - 28400 points

I didn't have to do any point farming at all. I actually had quite a few left over. For my entire play-through you can watch the video below. I make through the game in just over an hour and a half. I would advise you aim for the same sort of time too, if you manage to get under 2 hours, you'll get the 'Sprinter' trophy too.

I Need a Hero.png

I Need a Hero

Withstand the zombie siege.

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

You will get this trophy after you hold off the zombie siege in the hospital. This will happen once you give Jill the vaccine, so be prepared.

The Pursuer.png

The Pursuer

Follow Nicholai deeper underground.

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

You will get this trophy after you leave the underground storage facility and enter the NEST 2 facility.

Electric Slide.png

Electric Slide

Gather all the fuses in the warehouse within 5 minutes.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

The warehouse is the next area that you come to after leaving the hospital. As you enter you'll drop down into of a control room where Nicholai is standing, try to use the lift at the back and the lights will go off. At this point now you will need to find the 3 fuses in the warehouse and put them into the fuse box next to the lift. There usually isn't a time limit, but if you want this trophy, you'll have to do it in under 5 minutes. This is not a problem, you can comfortably do it in around 4. I would advise you try this on your first play-through as the enemies will be easier to deal with.

There is a save point before you drop down into the warehouse, so make sure to save there and you can retry if you mess up for any reason. I've made a quick video below that shows the optimum route for the fastest time.

Nemesis Down!?.png

Nemesis Down!?

Bronze Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

You will get this trophy after you defeat Nemesis for the first time in the NEST 2 facility. If you want to see how to beat him during this fight you can watch my 'Inferno' difficulty video above.

Hello, Charlie!.png

Hello, Charlie!

Destroy a Charlie Doll.

Bronze Trophy.png

MISSABLE

For more information please see the 'Goodbye, Charlie!' below.

For their exact locations, along with all other collectibles, please see my full collectibles guide HERE.

Two for One Deal.png

Two For One Deal

Defeat two enemies with a single shot.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

While this trophy is technically one you can miss, it would be very hard to do so. I got this one without trying and it will be more than likely that you will too. When I got the trophy I didn't actually hit two enemies with the same shot, or it sure didn't seem like it. I got it using the assault rifle, but using the grenade launcher or the rocket launcher will guarantee that you get this trophy.

Bookworm.png

Bookworm

Read all story files.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

The story files are the main collectible of the game. They can be found throughout the game, there are 56 in total. There's even one after the final boss and just before the ending cutscene. Now unlike the Charlie Dolls, the story files will respawn at the start of every play-through. This doesn't mean you need to collect them all in one play-through though, you can pick any you may have missed during a subsequent run. You will just have to remember which ones you missed. You can track your progress in the records part of the pause menu, but again, it won't tell you which ones you're missing.

For their exact locations, along with all other collectibles, please see my full collectibles guide HERE.

Goodbye, Charlie!.png

Goodbye, Charlie!

Destroy all Charlie dolls.

SIlver Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

MISSABLE

The Charlie dolls, or bobbleheads, are one of the collectibles in this game. There are 20 of them in total. As the description of the trophy says, you need to destroy them, rather than actually collect them. Unlike all the other collectibles in the game, once a Charlie doll is destroyed it will never respawn, not even during a new play-through.

For their exact locations, along with all other collectibles, please see my full collectibles guide HERE.

Kendo's Armory.png

Kendo's Armory

Collect all weapons in the campaign.

Bronze Trophy.png

MISSABLE

This trophy only requires you to find the extra weapons during the story, you don't need to purchase any of the 'cheat' weapons for this trophy. That means you only need to find 4 weapons.

  1. M3 Shotgun - This is in a locked gun cabinet in the railway office in Downtown, the first area of the game. You will need the bolt cutters to open it up.

  2. Grenade Launcher - This is in the second safe room in the sewers, once you drop into the water. Keep heading straight, take care of the Hunter (Gamma) and it's the room up the little ladder to the left.

  3. G18 Handgun (Burst Model) - Very hard to miss. Once Jill has been given the vaccine in the hospital and you regain control of her, it will be sat on the side directly in front of you.

  4. .44 AE Lightning Hawk - Still in the hospital, you will need to be Jill to reach it. Go upstairs and into the T-Junction hallway. Go straight ahead, but don't go through the door, instead look left and there will be a pile of junk with a gap that Jill can climb through (Carlos can't). Go through it and jump out of the window into the courtyard below, the MAG will be in a box to the left.

RE- Master of Unlocking.png

RE: Master of Unlocking

Unlock all safes, lockers, strongboxes, and pickable locks.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

There are 20 locks that you need to open up for this trophy. Most of them will require that you have the lock pick and you will have to do some backtracking to get to them. Firstly in Downtown and then again in the Hospital. The safes will require codes, as do a couple of the lockers in the police station.

You can track you progress for this trophy in the records part of the pause menu, but it won't tell you which ones you have unlocked, only how many. You can get any that you missed in subsequent play-throughs, you'll just have to remember which ones they were.

For their exact locations, along with all other collectibles, please see my full collectibles guide HERE.

Nightmare difficulty is the fourth in the game and you will need to complete the game on Hardcore before you can attempt it. If you want to see a full play-through of the game, please see the video attached to the 'Jill Valentine' trophy. The enemies are in the same place as they are in video, they main difference is that you'll be able to save as much as you like and that there are checkpoints.

Sensational Work!.png

Sensational Work!

Complete the game with an S rank.

Gold Trophy.png

MISSABLE

You can get this trophy on any difficulty. All you need to do is finish the game in under 2 hours, while only saving 5 times or fewer. This trophy is definitely best combined with the 'Jill Valentine' trophy, as you'll need to get an S-Rank on 'Inferno' difficulty anyway. So please see that trophy for more details.

Minimalist.png

Minimalist

Complete the game without opening the item box.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

This trophy is unlocked by finishing the game on any difficulty without using an item box. These are the large chest in safe rooms where you can store items. I would advise you try and get this trophy during one of your first two play-throughs, while you're still on a relatively low difficulty. Picking up all of the hip pouches is a must during this trophy attempt and storage space will be severely limited, obviously. You can't use any of the 'cheats' that you purchase from shops while attempting this trophy, they'll be stored in an item box and you won't be able to retrieve them, unfortunately.

I Might Need These Later!.png

I Might Need These Later!

Complete the game using 1 or fewer recovery items.

SIlver Trophy.png

MISSABLE

To unlock this trophy you'll need to complete the game while only using one recovery item. That's a single herb, a single herb mixture, or a single health spray. The reason they allow you one is because you have to use one to remove the parasites that the spider infects you with early on in the power substation.

Luckily though, the recovery coins that you can purchase from the shop do not affect this trophy. For that reason, you can equip one or both of those and never have to worry about health.

Sprinter.png

Sprinter

Complete the game in under 2 hours of play time.

Gold Trophy.png

MISSABLE

To unlock this trophy you'll need to complete the game in under 2 hours. This is very easily done. It can be finished in roughly around an hour and a half with very little effort. This trophy is best combined with the 'Jill Valentine' trophy, as you'll be doing a speed-run for S rank then any way. Please see the 'Jill Valentine' trophy for a video of my hour and a half run through of the game.
