Trophy Guide Overview

Welcome to my guide for Ghostrunner. Ghostrunner can be compared to a lot of games, Mirror's Edge, Dishonored, even Hotline Miami. It takes elements from all of those games, but feels completely fresh and new. Yes, there is free-running, there is first-person melee combat and you will die a lot, to begin with at least, but the game is very forgiving. The checkpoint system is fantastic. There is one after every enemy encounter and there are no load times, so if you die, it's straight back into the action.

The game also has chapter select, so nothing is missable. Now I did run into a bit of a problem when cleaning up the collectibles using chapter select. You can absolutely find the collectible you're after and just quit the level, it will still count. However, I found that if you didn't start another level afterwards, and just shut the game down, the collectibles for the previous level may reset. I would recommend either doing them all in one go or start a level just before closing the game down. If a collectible does reset, you can just go and pick them up again.

The trophy list is actually very straightforward, basically collectibles, of which there are 46, kill/special ability based trophies and story based trophies. That's it. The difficulty comes from actually learning to play the game and a few platforming/free-running sections late on. One thing that I changed straight away and will advise you to do, is change the control scheme to 'classic'. As standard jump is R1 and that just felt weird to me, with classic it changes jump to X, you know, where it should be. Another tip is use the slow-down ability for everything. If you hold L1 you will slow down time and be able to freely move around enemies even when you're in mid-air. This is invaluable for tight situations. You can also use it if you think you might miss a jump, moving yourself into just the right position to hit the next wall.

Now you are free to just finish the game at your own pace and use chapter select to clean up any trophies or collectibles you missed using chapter select. However, I would recommend get all of the collectibles during your first playthrough, some of them can be at the end of certain levels. For all of the miscellaneous kill based trophies I have tried to find a point near the start of a level where it is best to get them, so a lot less messing around post-game.

R is for Running

Complete a level without dying

Gold Trophy.png

When you first start the game, this trophy may seem really tough as you will be dying a lot, but it's actually fairly straight forward.

You can get this trophy using level select once you finish the story and you can use any level, even boss fights. This is what I did.

I loaded up the 16th chapter, The Summit and defeated Mara again, without dying obviously. Her attack patterns are very easy to learn and after a couple attempts you should have them down no problem.

When she slams down her arm, dodge left or right. When she goes underground, wait until it gets close then dodge left or right, don't move to early on this attack. When she sweeps left or right, simply jump. The final attack she has if the forward thrust, obviously dodge left or right for this one too. She does add electric to the floor during phase two and three, but if you stay near the joints in the floor you will be able to move to safety very easily. Then finally when she electrifies the whole floor, do some wallrunning. If you die at all, restart level and try again, the run back to the fight is pretty short. Once you defeat her that's the end of the level and you should get the trophy. The whole level can be completed in under 4 minutes.

Finish Line.png

Finish line

Complete your climb up the tower

Gold Trophy.png

Story related and can't be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you complete chapter 17, The Monster and finish the game.

Chapter 17 has some of the hardest platforming in the whole game. Using L1 and slowing down time to correct your jumps is a must during this chapter. Another tip is to forget about trying to direct your jumps as you leave a vertical platforms, just jump, too much correction as you jump will make you lose all momentum. Also, make sure you jump early enough as well, if you leave it too late, you'll just kind of fall off with no propulsion at all. Thankfully there is a checkpoint after each section, so with a bit of patience it can be overcome.

Decomission Tom

SIlver Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you decommission Tom and complete chapter 8, The Gatekeeper.

This is the first sort of 'boss fight', but not really. It's actually a gauntlet and a pretty unforgiving one at that. I found I had the most success 'scaling Tom' when I would just go for it and react rather than try and time things. Of course, timing comes into it too, but being able to react quickly seemed to be more important. Using L1 to slow down time and adjust is essential during parts of the chapter. Again, this game has excellent checkpoints and the are everywhere in this chapter too, sometimes even halfway up the gauntlet.

Back to hell.png

Back to hell

Defeat Hel

SIlver Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you defeat Hel and during chapter 12, In Her Own Image.

Hel is the first proper boss fight of the game, but the boss fights in this game aren't like typical fights, you can't just going in swinging your sword, it doesn't work like that. You just need to make contact once on four occasions. To leave Hel open to an attack you need to successfully deflect her attacks first. You'll know when you're getting it right because there will be a yellow spark as you parry. If you try and parry too soon you will get pushed back and will need to start the sequence again. The attack sequences are always the same per life bar, no matter where she jumps, so learning them is no problem. The biggest problem with this fight is probably falling off the level if you time a parry wrong or trying to dodge her ranged attacks as you try and get to her. After you take one of her life bars she will jump away and you will have to go after her. The direction she goes is random, but the attack patterns will always stay the safe. You will unlock the trophy once you defeat her.

Artificial selection

Defeat the Keymaster

SIlver Trophy.png

Secret Trophy

Story related and can't be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you defeat Mara and during chapter 16, The Summit.

Mara is a very straight forward boss fight, it's essentially an extreme game of jump rope. Her attacks are telegraphed very well and most of the time it's a case of dodging left or right or jumping, that's it really.

Longrunner.png

Longrunner

Run 42 kilometers

Bronze Trophy.png

This trophy is practically unmissable. You will more than likely get this before you get half way through the game.

The distance is cumulative, so the more you die, the earlier you'll get it. I got it during chapter 5. You can't track the trophy, but there's also no need to.

Anchor 11
Where are my Keys.png

Where are my Keys?

Kill 1000 enemies

Bronze Trophy.png

Another trophy you won't need to worry about.

Again, this is cumulative, so the more you die the earlier you'll get this. I got this during chapter 13, The Forbidden Zone. If you don't have it by the time you have done everything else, load up the 15th chapter, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe' and kill the first bunch of exploding (Wreck) enemies over and over again until you get it.

Anchor 12
Triple A.png

Triple A

Kill 4 enemies with a single use of Blink

SIlver Trophy.png

You will get Blink during Chapter 3, 'The Climb'.

There is a very good place to get pretty much all of the combat related trophies and that is by using the first group of exploding enemies near the start of the 15th chapter, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'.

Blink is the first special ability you get. It allows you to travel through enemies killing them as you do. If you're having trouble with this one, try using Blink's upgrades, Range and Area. This will allow you to travel farther and the attack range will be much larger.

Anchor 13
Wave of mutilation.png

Wave of mutilation

Kill 3 enemies with a single use of Surge

SIlver Trophy.png

You will get Surge during Chapter 12, 'In Her Own Image'.

There is a very good place to get pretty much all of the combat related trophies and that is by using the first group of exploding enemies near the start of the 15th chapter, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'.

There is a strong possibility you will get this trophy without trying, it is one of the stronger abilities, so will probably be using it often. If you are having trouble, try using Surge's upgrades, Size and Range. This will make the projectile larger and travel further.

Anchor 14
Control freak.png

Control freak

Force enemies to kill 4 of their allies using Overlord

SIlver Trophy.png

You will get Overlord during Chapter 14, 'Reign in Hell'.

This trophy is cumulative, you don't need to do this with one usage of Overlord, just four in total.

For that reason this trophy is very simple, just use Overlord until you get the trophy, should only need to be 2-3 times. I got the trophy during chapter 15, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'. About halfway through the chapter there will be a room with a couple of shield enemies (Enforcers) and a couple of melee enemies (Sluggers), they will be overlooking a couple of the multiplying enemies (Splitters). Kill the Sluggers and use Overlord on one of the Enforcers, he'll make sort work of the Splitters down below. Rinse and repeat.

Anchor 15
Unstoppable force.png

Unstoppable force

Kill 3 enemies with a single use of Tempest

Bronze Trophy.png

You will get Tempest during Chapter 6, 'Road to Amida'.

There is a very good place to get pretty much all of the combat related trophies and that is by using the first group of exploding enemies near the start of the 15th chapter, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'.

There is a strong possibility you will get this trophy without trying. Once again, if you don't use the above location to get the trophy very easily. If you are struggling you can use Tempest's upgrade, Range, to well, make the range longer.

Hit me if you can.png

Hit me if you can

Block Warden's attack 5 times in row

Gold Trophy.png

Warden's are the samurai enemies that you first encounter during chapter 10, 'Echoes'. In fact, this is the quickest way to get to a Warden if you are using chapter select, the first enemy of the chapter is a Warden. There is actually a mini tutorial here that teaches you about parrying this enemy, so the first one is for free, as the game stops time until you parry using R2.

I found it best to back off a bit so I could time the parries better. So once you have successfully parried once, back away a bit, watch for the red flash that tells you that the Warden is about to attack again, then parry again. Keep doing this until you have done 5 in a row and get the trophy. It may take a couple of attempts, but the parry windows are quite generous in this game.

Block 5 projectiles in a row using your sword

SIlver Trophy.png

First of all, make sure you don't have the Deflect: Reflect upgrade module active. You need to block the projectiles, not reflect them (that's the trophy below).

You'll want to find one of the regular enemies on his own, so I would advise just loading up the first chapter. Next stand a comfortable distance away from him so that you can see the projectile coming towards you as he shoots. Then use R2 to block the shots as the come at you. Like parrying, this take precise timing, you need to press R2 as the projectile is just in front of you. The best thing is to stay in the same place, even if you die, so you can get a feel for the timing. If you move around, by getting closer or further away the timing will change. Obviously you need to do 5 in a row, so if you die the counter resets.

Anchor 18
Sword to a gunfight.png

Sword to a gunfight

Kill 30 enemies with projectiles reflected using your sword (Reflect module required)

SIlver Trophy.png

First of all, make sure you have the Deflect: Reflect upgrade module active and the Deflect: Boost one as well if you want to make it easier. This will make deflection window larger.

The total of 30 kills is cumulative, so if you are using this ability during normal gameplay, you may get it by the end of the game, if not, you can use chapter select and continue with the total.

I loaded up the first chapter for this as the enemies are easy and spaced apart. I actually used the enemy pictured below, where I was stood was the perfect distance for me to reflect his first shot, but before if would hit him, he would fire another. This means we would both die at the same time and there is a checkpoint right where I was stood.

Deflecting shots is directional, you need to be aiming towards the enemy to send it back to them. If you do it while moving you will more than likely miss.

Strike.png

Strike

Kill 3 enemies at once with a falling Drone

Bronze Trophy.png

As far as I'm aware there is only one place you can do this in the game. I was looking out for this trophy the whole time, but only found a group of three enemies near a drone once and that was during chapter 15, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'.

Late on the chapter you will get to the room pictured below. There are a couple of the teleporting enemies 'Shifters', some regular enemies and four drones. From the start of the area move forward and propel yourself through the air using Gap Jammer (grapple hook) and land in the middle island, then use the propulsion arrow to bounce up and land on the drone on the left, so the back left drone from the starting position. By this time one of the shifters should have moved to the back left island, meaning there will be three enemies on it. Aim the drone towards the three enemies, then jump off. If done right, the drone should drop on all three of them, killing them. If you don't get the trophy, just keep trying until you do. It can get a bit frustrating as there are lots of enemies shooting at you in this area, but you'll get it eventually.

Homerunner.png

Homerunner

Kill an enemy with a projectile reflected by Tempest

Bronze Trophy.png

You will get Tempest during Chapter 6, 'Road to Amida'.

Tempest is essentially like a force push power. Deflect a projectile using this ability is very simple. Stand in front of one of the regular enemies, wait until he shoots, then hit L3. The projectile will bounce back at them killing them and you'll get the trophy. You will have a lot of opportunities to do this one.

Push it to the limit.png

Push it to the limit

Fill up GR-SCP so that there are no empty slots left

Bronze Trophy.png

You won't be able to do this until chapter 14, 'Reign in Hell'.

During that chapter, there will be another VR section and after that you will unlock your full potential and all upgrade slots will be open to you. Use the touch pad to bring up the upgrade menu and get your Tetris on. You need to use up every single upgrade slot, obviously the 4 X ones don't count. Below is the order I used.

Sword Runner.png

Sword Runner

Kill 5 enemies within 10 seconds using just your sword

SIlver Trophy.png

This was the first trophy I earned and it was completely by accident, so you might get it without trying too.

If you are struggling to get this trophy, there is a great place to get it during the 3rd chapter, 'The Climb'. You'll want to have the Deflect: Reflect upgrade equipped.

During that chapter you'll make you're way across a large gap using the Gap Jammer, three times in total. This is just after making the climb at near the start. As you land there will be an enemy with his back to you, land near him for kill one, then dash forward and kill the next guy for kill two. From there turn left, and jump to the third guy, do a little dash in mid-air here too. Then turn to the right and look into the next room, there will be a guy stood near the back wall, move towards him, but be ready to deflect the bullet he shoots at you. Then finally look to the right again for the 4th guy, he should have his back to you for an easy kill and finally the 5th guy will be on the other side of the pillar. If you don't get it, let the next guy kill you and retry. The reason we kill the guy with the reflected bullet in the middle is just to remove him, if you dash to him, you'll probably die.

You need to be constantly moving while doing this, 10 seconds is not a lot of time. Dashing in between kills is essential.

Ghostrunner - Part 02_Moment.jpg
Anchor 23
Why not both.png

Why not both

Use 2 different special abilities with 10 seconds

SIlver Trophy.png

A very simple trophy that can be done anywhere once you have more than one special ability. Find an enemy and a fall (for dying) near a checkpoint, hit the enemy with one of your special abilities, die, then hit him with a different second one. Easy.

I did this, along with most of the combat trophies, using the exploding enemies near the start of chapter 15, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'.

Anchor 24
Pre-empative strike.png

Pre-empative strike

Kill a Splitter before it manages to split itself

Bronze Trophy.png

Splitters are the enemies that appear late in the game that split into multiple clones.

Killing one before it splits is actually very simple, you just need Surge. Once you enter an area that has a Splitter in it, stop near the start so it doesn't see you. There is a great place to do this during, you guessed it, chapter 15, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe', it's pictured below. There are two Splitters here. Stand where I am and just hit one with Surge, you will need to have the Range upgrade equipped for it.

Upgrades not mandatory.png

Upgrades not mandatory

Kill 10 enemies in a row without using Sensory Boost

SIlver Trophy.png

Sensory Boost is when you hold L1, you will naturally be using this all of the time, but this trophy may still come naturally. I got it during chapter 14, 'Reign in Hell', during the section where you are running away from the exploding enemies. I wasn't trying for it.

You can still use dash, so tapping L1, and special abilities. Naturally this means the best place in the game to get this trophy is near the start of chapter 15, 'Things You Wouldn't Believe'. Near the start there are a large group of exploding enemies that rush you, use Surge to wipe them all out in one go and you should unlock the trophy.

Anchor 27
Wallrunner.png

Wallrunner

Kill 74 enemies right after jumping off a wall

Bronze Trophy.png

This is another one of those trophies that you don't need to worry about, it will come naturally. Jumping from a wall run into an enemy kill is going to be something you do a lot.

How early you get this depends on how many times you die. The total is cumulative, so if you want to farm an enemy near a wall run to get it out of the way, you can.

Anchor 28
Improvise, adapt, overrun.png

Improvise, adapt, overrun

Kill a sniper without getting near him

SIlver Trophy.png

Snipers are introduced during chapter 10, 'Echoes', and they are quite annoying.

For this trophy you will obviously need to be using a projectile, so you will need Surge, with its two most important upgrades, Range and Size. Now you don't get Surge until chapter 12, so you can either get it on one of the later Snipers or use chapter select. I got it using the first sniper. As you can see below, you do still need to be relatively close, Surge only travels so far, even with the upgrades. You will need to be quick with your aiming, Snipers are very quick to aim themselves.

Kill 3 Sluggers using Blink, while they are in the air

Bronze Trophy.png

Sluggers are the melee enemies that jump towards you, they are introduced during chapter 5, 'Breathe In'.

The three kills are cumulative, so you can just use the first one you encounter three times, but there's no need to there are plenty of them during the game.

The upgrades for Blink can help here, but they aren't necessary. Once you spot a Slugger, wait for him to jump and quickly press L3 (with Blink as your special ability) while they are in mid-air, then just cut them down. Just do this three times, using either the same or different Sluggers and you'll get the trophy.

Kill 23 enemies in a row without dying

SIlver Trophy.png

In a game where you die pretty regularly, not just from enemy attacks but random falls, so this trophy may seem like it's going to be really tough. Thankfully though, it's not.

You can absolutely spend hours to learn a level, then go for it and hope you don't die, or you can trick the game.

Now restarting checkpoint during the game will rewind time, so any kills you got since the checkpoint won't count, but what you can do instead is restart level, this doesn't wipe your progress allowing you to continue.

I would advise just using chapter select to get this trophy after you have finished the game. This will mean that you'll have all of the upgrades for the Surge special attack. Start the level and place all of the Surge upgrades in the upgrade slots along with red cross looking upgrade, this will increase the speed your special meter fills up passively.

Continue through the first part of the level, the free-running section, this is the only place you could die really. Once you leave the zip line and land on the platform, don't move forward until your special meter is full. If you do the exploding enemies will come after you. Once it's full move forward to wake up the enemies, let them bunch together and hit them with Surge. You should be able to kill them all in one go. Now pause and restart the level, not the checkpoint, and do exactly the same again, you should unlock the trophy after killing them all for a second time. If you die during the free-running section, you will have to restart the entire process again.

Kill 5 enemies with your special abilities, while they are protected by a Beacon Shield

Bronze Trophy.png

Beacon shields are the blue orbs that protect certain enemies using a blue shield. Beacon Shields are introduced as eraly as chapter 3, 'The Climb'.

Normal attacks won't hurt these enemies, but special attacks cut right through the shield still. There is a strong chance that you'll get this trophy without even thinking about it. The total is cumulative, so any 5 enemies at any point will do.

Unlock your full potential!

Bronze Trophy.png

Story related and can't be missed.

You'll get this after completing the VR section of Chapter 14, 'Reign in Hell'. It's about halfway through the chapter. It basically signifies that you have unlocked all of the upgrade slots. At this point you will be able to get the 'Push it to the limit' trophy.

Use dash, wallrun, slide and gap jammer within 1 second

Bronze Trophy.png

The order you will want to get this trophy is dash, slide, gap jammer (grapple), and finally wall run. You would think that this combination will come naturally during your playthrough, but it didn't for me, so it may not for you. To get this trophy you will need a grapple point on a wall and be able to stand very close to it. There are a few instances of this during chapter 3, 'The Climb', if you want to use chapter select. There is a great place to do it pictured below. It's very close to the start of the chapter, but there are plenty of opportunities throughout.

Essentially you want to stand pretty close to the wall, start walking, dash, slide, grapple, the wall run is automatic. This needs to be done in 1 second, so it may take a few attempts, but it's more than doable. You just need to get into a rhythm. If you still can't do it, try moving closer.
